What is a salad if not a vehicle for dressings and vinaigrettes? Sometimes it’s that carefully chosen dressing that brings balance and flavour to a signature salad. Like this dressing.
Lemon Chive Yogurt Dressing is creamy, bright, and loaded with fresh flavour. We pair tangy Greek yogurt, fresh lemon juice, fragrant chives, with a hint of garlic, to come together in a dressing that’s light enough for delicate greens but substantial enough to spoon over roasted vegetables, grain bowls, and grilled meats.
A Lighter Dressing with a Nutritional Boost
One of the things I love most about using Greek yogurt as the base for this dressing is that it brings nutrition to the table. Compared to mayonnaise-based dressings, Greek yogurt adds boost of protein – while keeping the dressing light and fresh. Choose a yogurt with live active cultures, you’ll get beneficial probiotics that support a healthy gut microbiome. Paired with heart-healthy olive oil, fresh lemon juice, and antioxidant-rich chives, we’re using wholesome ingredients, that are every bit as satisfying as richer alternatives.
It’s an easy way to add flavour, protein, and a little extra goodness to everyday meals—without sacrificing taste.
A Fresh Lemon Yogurt Dressing for Every Season
I often use this as a secondary dressing, to add a creamy tangy layer of flavour, and a bit of contrast in colour to the finish of the plate, platter or bowl. Sometimes that other dressing is as simple as olive oil and a splash of vinegar to soften firm elements, like cabbage cauliflower or carrots. This also sets off feta beautifully, so I regularly toss this at any salad graced by feta.
Unlike heavy cream-based dressings, this is fresh and vibrant. The yogurt provides richness without weighing everything down, while that lemony acid wakes up every bite with its clean, citrusy finish. Fresh chives add a hint of onion to complement almost anything, without overpowering it.
Bright, Creamy Yogurt Dressing for Salads, Vegetables and More
One of those recipes worth keeping in the refrigerator all week. Stir Lemon Chive Yogurt Dressing into your regular potato salad, add a dab to grilled salmon, or use it as a dip for crisp vegetables.
Try it as a spread for wraps and sandwiches. Fabulous results.
Best of all, it comes together in about five minutes with ingredients you probably already have.
Once you try it, you’ll find yourself looking for excuses to put it on everything. (Because it can’t be just me!)
This dressing is wonderfully versatile. Try it with:
- Our Roasted Potato & Asparagus Salad
- Green salads with butter lettuce, spinach, or arugula
- Roasted baby potatoes
- Steamed or grilled asparagus
- Fresh peas and snap peas
- Grilled salmon or trout
- Roast chicken
- Grain bowls with quinoa or farro
- Chickpea or white bean salads
- Drizzled over roasted carrots, broccoli, or cauliflower
- As a dip for raw vegetables
- Spread on sandwiches, burgers, or wraps instead of mayonnaise
Why I Love It
A good dressing should make simple ingredients taste extraordinary. This one is bright, creamy, endlessly versatile, and lets fresh our seasonal produce remain the star of the plate.
